1. Electricity is part and parcel of our life.
Electricity is part and parcel of our life. Most of the tasks in our life depend on electricity. No industry can run without it. All homes appliances cannot run without electricity. It means more than 90% of our life depends on electricity.
2. Almost all the countries enjoy this basic need of their life. But, in Pakistan, it is in short supply.
But-, electricity is in short supply in Pakistan. That’s why load-shedding in Pakistan is a regular feature.
3. Load shedding, scheduled or unscheduled, badly affects our life.
Whatever the time is load-shedding is totally unscheduled. Sometimes, it is scheduled. But, the former is worst because it causes untold troubles. However, whether it is scheduled or unscheduled, it affects the life of the people belonging to all walks of life whether they are students, shopkeepers, industrialists, farmers, mechanics, housewives and businessmen, etc.
It badly affects the economy of a country. The industrial progress of a country comes to a Standstill. The fluctuation plays havoc with home appliances like refrigerators, television, computers, and washing machines. The business of a shopkeeper goes to dogs. A student cannot study properly. He cannot concentrate on his studies properly. Even, we have observed many times that the students complain that they had to solve their papers in the examination hall without the facility of electricity. The foreign investors are not ready to invest in Pakistan. The thefts and robberies take place during load-shedding. The people feel panic in society. They protest against the government. They take part in demonstrations. We have observed so many protests and demonstrations in Pakistan during the last two years when load-shedding peak was at its peak.
4. There are so many causes behind load-shedding.
There are so many causes of electricity crisis. Its first major reason is corruption, inefficiency and defective planning in WAPDA. Second, political chaos is another major reason for this crisis. There was a very short period for every past government to rule. That’s why, no government could pay attention and handle, this problem. Third; the mega projects like Kala Bagh Dam and Bhasha Dam are incomplete due to obduracy of WAPDA and the government. Forth, available resources are .misused. Power-theft is common.
This discussion clearly shows that Pakistan can never make progress unless we get rid of the electricity crisis.
5. Immediate measures should be taken to remove this problem
So, our government should take all possible measures to solve this, the problem as soon as possible. The concerned authorities should be made vigilant. Mega dams should be constructed without further delay. Similarly, the present available resources should be developed as soon as possible. Power-theft should be stopped. lt is also our duty to point out the persons who comm power-theft. The people should also make wise use of electricity. They should use energy saving. devices. If these steps are not taken, our country would never be able to make progress in all walks of life.
